A few seedlings have sprouted.
Some of them are already dead. In this case, because they got a little too much sun and dried out, poor things.
I'm going to give the rest another few days to see if they sprout, but then I'm going back to the nursery and just buying plants already-started. Clearly, I continue to be no good at gardening.
BUT...I have fresh inspiration. Want to know what it is?
Look at this crazy idea I found over at Instructables! It's a container garden... in a hanging shoe organizer!
Obviously this would only work with a certain size of plant, but for that size--well, the appeal is almost boundless. I love the aesthetics. I love the handiness. I love the portability. I love the price. I love how much space it saves ("garden" space is at a definite premium for us). I love the added protection from skunks, squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons that raising the plants gives them.
I love it!
