Reader Feature: Jill

It's long been a bloggy hope of mine that people will send me photos of projects they've done (or meals they've made, or gardens they've planted, or what-have-you) so that I can feature them here on the blog and share them with the world.

Today, I'm happy to present the lovely handiwork of Scrimpalicious reader (and personal friend to the Scrimps), Jill!

As someone who is very fond of aprons myself, and as someone who is also very fond of the retro-chic craze currently sweeping the globe (shut up, it is totally sweeping the globe), I cannot get over the astounding cuteness of these two half-aprons that Jill and her friend made!

Modeling their hip new look

Jill tells me that their fabric came from Yarns & Fabrications, in West Chester, Ohio, although sadly they no longer sell fabric so even if you live in the Cincinnati area, you're going to have to look elsewhere for fabric of similar cuteness.

The patterns were taken from A Is for Apron: 25 Fresh and Flirty Designs, by Nathalie Mornu. (Link is to a Google books preview).

Jill, I'd like to thank you for sharing your lovely handiwork with the world!

 Isn't she adorable?

Note: I've been told that the book with these apron patterns in it can have some pitfalls for beginning seamstresses. Here's a link to the publisher's website that offers some corrections and help with those issues.

If you have a project, recipe, photo, or blog article that you'd like to see featured on Scrimpalicious, please submit it to scrimpalicious@gmail.com for consideration.

  1. Yay! I love satisfying bloggy hopes :D And I always quote your piece about thinking of the apron as a uniform, and getting jazzed about wearing it even if I have to, groan, clean!

  2. I am sew not a sewer, so right off the bat, I admire your art. With that being said, how super cute is an apron wrapped all the way around the waist with a pretty bow on the front?!

  4. Hi - I'm a friend of Jill's and also made one of the aprons from the book - I want to mention that there are some errors in it that make a few of the patterns daunting for beginning seamstresses - so here is a link to the publisher's site with some corrections! http://www.larkbooks.com/expert/book-corrections

  5. @Dawn I like it wrapped around the front, too! I tuck my iPod into the waistband, and it's more snug tied this way. Bonus that it looks cute, too!
